As a child i vividly remember my grandmother stitching beautiful embroideries onto pillow covers or bed sheets or dresses and most often sarees. I grew up being a little inquisitive and started off looking at the varieties that were available.
One such variety that particularly interests me is Crewel.A very simple yet elegant self design caught my eye one day and on further inquiry I found that it was hand made which heightened my awe for the piece.Being a part of the internet generation i was amazed to know the crewel embroidery was actually a 1000 years old.
The art that can almost be called ancient has evolved from simple stitches that depicted people and their lifestyles to the very classy self design pieces.The possibilities are only innumerable which I am sure will be exciting to explore and create.BE CREWEL !
